Doris Anderson was a beloved mother and pastor's wife, full of creativity, energy and many talents.  Her mid-west character and small town folkiness made others around her feel at home wherever she went.

Doris was born in 1938 and grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her mother, sister and grandparents.  She became a Christian through the influence of her grandmother, sister, and the local Grace Methodist Church.  She credited the Scandinavian members of the church as having a profound influence on her.  At age 10 she grasped Jesus' redemption for all mankind and her personally.

During her high school years, Doris served on the school newspaper and enjoyed writing.  After high school she entered the Milwaukee Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing on a surprise scholarship and earned an RN diploma in 3 years.

Doris met Lloyd in the summer of 1960 at Wheaton College's summer school.  She moved to Portland, where Lloyd was from, to attend a one-year course at Multnomah School of the Bible.  Lloyd was drafted into the Army but married Doris on leave and they travelled to Germany where he was stationed.  After serving 2 years in Germany where their first child was born, they moved to Dallas.  Lloyd attended Dallas Theological seminary with the goal of being a pastor.  Doris worked as a nurse and stayed busy with their now two children and attending lectures of visiting professors..

Over the years in ministry, Lloyd and Doris served several years at the Port Angeles Evangelical Free Church and the Scandia Bible Church followed by 15 years at the Lynnwood Bible Church.  She and Lloyd raised 5 children.  As a pastor's wife, Doris was often engaged in leading Bible studies and writing curriculum as well as organizing church activities and events.  In addition to these higher pursuits, her creative spirit was variously expressed antiquing, decorating, making organdy roses to sell at local fairs, and writing the occasional poem or church play.  She would also take breaks to go "on a Lark", visiting friends and family in the Midwest or other places.

When  her children began leaving the nest, Doris returned to college and completed a journalism major at Seattle Pacific University.  In 1998 Lloyd and Doris together founded the 7 Wonders Creation Museum and Bookstore, where they were stewards for 16 years.  Doris designed displays and helped Lloyd manage their bookstore while he led tours of the mountain and explained the rapid geological changes from the May 18th 1980 eruption that pointed away from evolutionary theories.

After retiring from ministry Doris helped Lloyd edit a book about Biblical genealogies.  She then embarked upon a book project of her own:  Annie and the Coroner, a Christian romance that weaves together her love of music and theology with her sense of adventure and humor.  Her book was published in 2025, despite her struggle with liver cancer.  Doris' strength of will was evident to the end by outliving her doctor's prediction of life expectancy by many months and continually surprising her children and caregivers with a strong desire to keep living.

Doris was admired for her creativity, ingenuity and git 'er done spirit.  Her hospitality over the many years in ministry endeared her to many.  She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lloyd, 5 children:  Michelle, Holly, Steve, Sharon and Heidi, and a community of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends.
