Donna Mary Lofgren (Carr), age 85, passed away on May 31, 2024, in Brentwood, California.
Born on May 24, 1939, Donna grew up in Fircrest, Washington, and graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma, Class of 1957. At the age of 18, she moved to California and began working at J.C. Penney before launching a long and dedicated career with the law firm Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in San Francisco. Starting as a switchboard operator at their Market Plaza office, Donna remained with the firm for 40 years, retiring as the Telecommunications & Facilities Manager.
In 1988, Donna married William C. Lofgren. Together they shared a passion for small plane travel and were active members of the West Coast Swing Association. Known for their graceful style on the dance floor, they were admired by many in local dance clubs. After relocating to the Palm Springs desert, Donna and Bill built a vibrant life among friends and fellow dancers until Bill's passing in 2009.
Donna continued living in Palm Springs until 2019, when she returned to Northern California to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren following her diagnosis with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Shelley (Tony) and Adrianne (Al); grandchildren Shelby (Shelby), Alyssa (Zack), and Alyson; brother Stephen Carr (Marilee); cousins Andrea, Janet, and Jack Jr (and their families); niece Shawn and her son J.P.; and stepsons Shawn and Kelly Lofgren, as well as many, many other cherished family members & friends.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Glenford and Dorothy Carr; stepfather, Benjamin Hall; sister, Glenna Carr; husband, William C. Lofgren; and her dog, Bear.
Donna will be remembered for her love of dancing, shopping, jewelry, and, most of all, spending time with those she held dear. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
A graveside service will be held on May 30, 2025, at New Tacoma Cemetery, Washington.
