Donald Kenneth Asbury was born on May 16, 1932, in Welch, West Virginia, and passed away on April 30, 2025, at Madigan Army Medical Hospital (JBLM).

Don entered the Army after high school and served 28 years.  He retired as a master sergeant, and his service spanned numerous tasks (e.g., military police in Europe in the 1950s, two tours in Vietnam, and managing the Army support of the 1973 National Scout Jamboree).  After leaving the Army, he worked for the US Postal System in Tacoma, retiring after 20 years.

During retirement, he remained active by being a year-round bowler (several leagues), an avid reader (thousands of books), and socializing with friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Paula, of 48 years; survived by his son, Allen (Teresa), a brother, Leonard, many nephews and nieces and their children, and all his friends (many who considered him family).
