FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS

Diego Michael Garza, a resident of Lakewood, Washington, beloved son and brother, passed away suddenly in a tragic car accident on 02/18/2023 at approximately 5:23am on I-90 milepost 231 just outside of Ritzville, WA at 18 years old.

Diego was born March 13th, 2004 in Tacoma, Washington to parents, Brooke Beaty and Steve Garza. From the moment he was born they knew how special, unique and incredible he would be. Diego grew up in University Place, Washington, attending University Place Schools from Chambers Elementary through Curtis High School, where he graduated with Honors, while also earning his Associates Degree from Tacoma Community College. Diego was accepted to multiple colleges but selected to attend Gonzaga University with a full academic scholarship. He enjoyed and excelled in playing multiple sports, including Baseball, Basketball, Track, and Football from the tender age of 5. He got to play with many of the same kids his entire life forming unbreakable friendships with so many. Diego enjoyed playing sports, daily workouts and basketball games at the gym, family vacations, boating at the lake, trading crypto currency and stocks, and most of all, spending time with his family. Diego worked for his father in flooring during the summers and weekends from an early age and knew the value of hard work and earning a dollar. He always held himself to the highest standard while remaining humble. During his last days, his light shined so bright as he became the young man he strived to be, announcing a double major at Gonzaga University for Business Administration with concentrations in both Management Information Systems and Finance/Accounting. He met new friends, joined intramural sports teams and was truly thriving in a special way that made his friends, family, and parents so proud. Diego had a brilliant mind, a passion to succeed, and a caring heart. Diego was everything you want your son to be.

Diego is survived by his Mother; Brooke Beaty, Father; Steve Garza, and Sisters; Jasmine Garza and Selena Garza, who will cherish his memory forever.

Funeral services will take place Sunday, 03/12/2023 at 1:00 pm at New Tacoma Cemetery, followed by an immediate procession to his Celebration of Life to take place from 2:00pm – 5:00pm at Fircrest Golf and Country Club.
