It is with great sorrow we announce the death of our beautiful Demara Marie Vandervort.  Demara was born on March 21, 2011 and passed peacefully in her sleep on April 10th, 2024.

Although she had only 13 years to make her mark on this world, she did it with grace and courage, an example to us all.  A self-proclaimed Jesus follower and Spina bifida warrior, Demara spent her life focused on her blessings, taking every challenge in stride.  She enjoyed music, singing and dancing, playing wheelchair basketball, participating in Girl Scouts, and acting in school plays.  She was inspired by her weekend at the Rollettes Experience (a wheelchair dance team) and by attending Camp Korey.  She was a proud graduate of Geiger Elementary and a student at Hunt Middle School where she attended with her besties the "7 twinsies."

Demara's love for Jesus was manifested in the way she loved others. She was happiness on wheels, bringing joy to all who knew her, lighting up a room with her beautiful eyes and her sweet smile.

She taught us so many things in her short life, but most significantly, she regularly reminded us that there is always time for a good laugh, no matter how hard things might be. Demara was a gift to all who knew her, and she will be missed greatly.

She is survived by her loving parents, Doreen and Darren Vandervort, her sister Delilah, her best friend, Scarlett, grandparents Lynn and Bill Vandervort, Dolly and John Reed, and many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her very much. She was welcomed into heaven by her Grandpa Don Dougherty and her Grandma Great Pat Sankovich, Grandpa and Grandma Hirsch and Grandpa and Grandma Vandervort as well as many uncles, aunties, cousins who loved her.
