Born in Tacoma on March 14, 1944, Dave was the oldest of 2 children to Hal and Ann.  Dave grew-up in University Place and was in the 1 ^st graduating class from Curtis High School.

Following high school, Dave enlisted in the National Guard, becoming a tank crewman. While serving as a Guardsman, Dave studied at Olympic College. In January 1966, Dave joined the Tacoma Police Department. Starting as a motorcycle patrolman, Dave worked his way to detective during a career that would span 30 years. In 1992, Dave was honored with being selected the most outstanding detective by the Pierce County Prosecutor's Office. After retiring from the police department in June 1996, Dave started his own investigation business, offering his services from insurance to trial investigation.

Dave married his loving wife Kathy on February 11, 1989. Joining Dave's two sons, Sean and Kyle, Kathy brought with her a daughter Bonnie and a son Chris. They enjoyed being a family in University Place for 33 years where he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Dave was an avid hotrodder, rebuilding several classic cars, most notably his 1923 Ford Model T (AKA the "Purple Hotrod"). Dave was heavily involved with the Retired Tacoma Police Officers Association, and loved his time with all of his police brothers and sisters. Dave also loved camping and boating, belonging to both the Overlanders RV club and the Day Island Yacht Club.

Dave Antonson passed away peacefully at Tacoma General Hospital on October 26, 2022. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his three sons Sean (Cari), Kyle (Jodie), and Chris, and his sister Sandy (Charlie), as well as his 8 grandchildren.
