Darrel D. Krueger went to be with Jesus on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the age of 93. His passing on such a meaningful day is a testament to a life rooted in deep faith, steadfast love, and joyful service.

Darrel was born in Colfax, Washington, on December 18, 1931, to Edward E. and Selma A. (Manteuffel) Krueger. He was the youngest of six siblings—Paul, Margie, Evelyn, Mildred, and Lois—and the last surviving member of a close-knit and loving family.

He spent his childhood in Colfax, attending the one-room Hamilton Grade School through eighth grade. As a boy, Darrel had the entire town of Colfax as his paper route, a sign of the work ethic and sense of responsibility that would follow him throughout life. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1949, where he was a proud Bulldog and enjoyed playing on the basketball team.

Darrel went on to attend Washington State University, earning a degree in accounting in 1953. Shortly after college, he met the love of his life, Jane Finch, while working at US National Bank in Portland, Oregon. Though he was drafted into the Army and feared they might lose touch, he was stationed at Fort Lewis, close enough to visit her often. Their love endured, strengthened by heartfelt letters and they were married on October 2, 1954.

Together, Darrel and Jane built a beautiful life and raised two children, Natalie and Brad. Darrel began his professional career as a CPA in Spokane, WA and later became the Chief Financial Officer for Pacific First Federal Savings and Loan and later became the governor of the Savings and Loan industry for Washington and Oregon. He later served as the Chief Financial Officer of American Savings Bank where he was instrumental in helping the bank go public before retiring. In retirement, he and Jane worked side-by-side at her shop, where Darrel started a framing business—specializing in cross-stitch—bringing care and creativity to each piece.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Darrel cherished time with his family. He and Jane celebrated 70 wonderful years of marriage in October 2024. He was a deeply involved grandfather, delighting in summer vacations to Arch Cape, Oregon, cheering at sporting events, celebrating holidays, and playing wiffle ball in the backyard and just hanging out and being a very special part of his grandson's lives. He loved them dearly and they loved him. He could not get away from Thomas and Jon as they were his backdoor neighbors. Every day was fun with Pop! He helped with some of their schooling as he taught them accounting and economics. They enjoyed learning from him.

Darrel was a man of unwavering faith and a long-time member of Olympic View Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as Treasurer, Deacon, Trustee, and wherever he was needed. When asked recently for his favorite Bible verse, he replied, "the whole Bible," but if he had to choose, it would be John 3:16.

Darrel is survived by his beloved wife Jane; daughter Natalie (Brad); son Brad (Jaci); grandsons Tyler, Thomas (Rebecca), Evan (Aubrey), and Jonathan (Mackenzie); and many dear nieces and nephews. He was deeply loved and admired by all who knew him. We are grateful for the life he lived, the faith he shared, and the love he poured into his family. We are honored to be his family and take comfort knowing we will see you again, Dad. We love you!
