Daphne Elaine Thweatt

Daphne died peacefully on November 1 ^st , 2022, in Tacoma, surrounded by family and friends.  She was 84 years old.

Daphne was born in Tacoma September 25, 1938.  She was the youngest of two (Bill Jr.) born to William and Gladys Joyce.  She spent her life in Tacoma, attending Edison Elem, Gray Jr. High, and graduating Lincoln High School in 1956.  Her career was in retail sales, working at People's downtown early on, spending the majority of her years managing the children's dept. at  Nordstrom.

She was very proud of her Norwegian and Lutheran heritage.  She loved camping, fishing, shopping, baking, and holiday entertaining.  She loved baking Christmas cookies with the grandkids, allowing (if not encouraging!) their complete destruction of the kitchen in the process. She was known as friendly, funny, wise-cracking, and fun-loving.

She is survived by her two sons, Jeff (Paige) and Karl, four grandchildren, Daniel, Hannah, Kristi, and Kari, and two step-children who have remained close with the step-siblings through many phases of life, Sue (Dean) and Dennis (Tina).

Daphne's final years were difficult, but she was made comfortable by the excellent care by the staff of The Village Retirement Memory Care Unit, the love of remaining family, and by the very special support from Darlene Wickens, her best friend since Kindergarten, who was with her until the end, sitting bedside vigil with family during Daphne's final days.  We would also like to thank the nursing staff at Allenmore hospital for their compassionate care, making her last few days as comfortable and dignified as possible.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
