Danny Ray
Flaugher
Aug 13, 1960 — Feb 16, 2025
Olympia
On February 16, 2025, the world said a heartfelt goodbye to a true pillar of strength and dedication, Danny Ray Flaugher, who passed away at the age of 64 in Yelm, Washington. Born on August 13, 1960, in Decatur, Illinois, Danny was a man of many talents and passions, dedicating his life to service, family, and the gift of giving.
Danny's journey began as a proud serviceman in the US Army, where he served with unwavering commitment for 22 years. The military wasn't just a job for Danny; it was a calling that shaped him into the husband, father, and grandfather he was destined to be. His time in the service taught him the values of honor and perseverance, qualities he carried into his 20-year career as a military contractor.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Lorrie Flaugher, and his children: Melissa Speagle (David), Jessica Aranyos (Kyler), Irisah Scott, Leahera Goodright (Anthony), Kalynn Gubbe (Curt), and Gary Petty. His legacy is also carried by his beloved sisters, Sandy Kopp and Chris Yearta (Doug), and several nieces and nephews. Although he was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Minnie Jo Flaugher, and his brother James, their spirits welcomed him with open arms.
But to truly know Danny was to know his love for family, particularly his cherished grandchildren: Henry Aranyos, Carson Aranyos, Brett Speagle, Gavin Goodright, Eloise Aranyos, Cameron Gubbe, Ryker Speagle, Ozzie Goodright, and Madison Gubbe. Each grandchild was a bright star that lit up his life, and nothing gave him more joy than spending time with them. It was in these moments that Danny's laughter was loudest and his heart fullest.
Danny was a man who took comfort in knowing everyone he loved was cared for. His robust laugh, his generous heart, and his unyielding dedication to those he loved will be deeply missed, but the lessons he imparted and the love he shared will remain forever. He enjoyed creating Flaugher Farm, with his loving wife, motorcycle rides, the Chicago Bears, and camping.
Family and friends are invited to honor Danny's life at a visitation on February 25, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., followed by graveside services on February 26, 2025, at 10 a.m., at New Tacoma Cemetery, located at 9212 Chambers Creek Rd W, Tacoma, WA 98467. After services, please join the family at Flaugher Farm for a celebration of life.
As we bid farewell to Danny, let us remember the words that echo his life's journey: "I did my duty. I paid the supreme price. I pray you'll remember, my sacrifice. My life was short, I did my best. God grant me peace, In my eternal rest." Danny Ray Flaugher, you have done your duty with grace and love. Rest in eternal peace.
