Obituary

Cynthia Jean Heath Wilder passed away on January 9, 2023. Cindy was born on February 2, 1950, to Robert P. Heath and Donita L. Heath in Tacoma, Washington. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1968. Her favorite activity at school was performing with the Swing Choir.

She was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority while attending the University of Puget Sound. In her freshman year, she was honored to be crowned The Sweetheart of Sigma Nu/White Rose Queen.

Cindy worked for the City of Tacoma in the Planning and Development Department and retired at age 55.

She and her husband, Richard Eldon Wilder, met in line dancing classes. They fell in love after partnering in country dance competitions. When they entered a competition in Reno, NV, they decided it was the perfect time to wed. They were happily married for over 32 years.

Cindy loved gardening, but her passion was family genealogy. Long before Ancestry.com, she was writing letters, sending emails, and making phone calls to total strangers who were later found to be family.

She also enjoyed long car trips, stopping at all her favorite places.

Cindy is survived by her loving husband and caregiver, Richard, brother William Heath (wife Patty), sister Barbara Edwards (husband Gary), and sister Sharon Heath. She is also survived by her nephews, Richard and Ronald Heath.

Cindy was a wonderful wife and sister. We will miss her.

A graveside service will be held at New Tacoma Cemetery on Thursday, August 24th at 1:00 PM.
