Col Marvin F Willis,

11 Aug 1925 - 3 January 2024

Born to Edward and Blanch Willis at Tacoma General Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Teresa J Willis, his Father Edward, his Mother Blanch, brother Elmer, and sister Violet. Marvin is survived by his son Gregory, DIL Donna, granddaughter Sarah, Daughter Melinda, and SIL Ken.

Marvin joined the Army Air Corps in 1943 where he received his basic training at Las Vegas Field. He advanced to crew chief on B-17s, as both radial engine mechanic and gunner.  He flew submarine patrols out of Biloxi MI with the 333rd Bomb Groupe until VE day. He was then transferred to Elmendorf Field, AK as crew chief on C-47s with the 555th Troop Transport Group, "Eager Beavers", until after VJ Day. He then joined the Washington Air National Guard as a SSG and was Maverick to 2nd LT as a 40mm & 90mm Air Defense squad leader. He rose through the ranks, and was promoted to Colonel in the Army Reserves; retiring in 1978. Marvin continued his career at Boeing in the Defense and Space divisions. He was involved in the Bomarc and Minuteman missile development, as well as the Voyager, Apollo, Rover, and IUS programs.

Upon retirement, Marvin became an avid golfer.  He was an early member of the Oakbrook Golf Club as well as the Washington State Seniors Golf Association and enjoyed the travel associated with their tournaments throughout the state.  Teresa and he traveled to Palm Springs each winter where they frequently went hiking, shopping and of course, played golf.
