Claude F. Blazkiewicz Obituary

April 16, 1946 – February 17, 2025

Claude F. Blazkiewicz of University Place passed away on Monday, February 17th at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma. He was 78.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to Leo and Mary Blazkiewicz. Settled in University Place, WA after retiring from the Air Force.

He joined the Air Force in the summer of 1964. He served as an Electrician Mechanic in Communications and Crypto System Support. He served in many Air Force bases in the United States and around the world, including in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. Claude served 22 years of exemplary service in the Air Force before retiring. He worked at Joint Base Lewis-McChord as a battle simulations contractor at the Battle Sims Center for 20 years before retirement.

Claude was an active member of Evangelical Chinese Church of Tacoma, teaching Sunday school and singing in the church choir.

He enjoyed reading and creative endeavors such as building plastic models, painting miniatures, paper crafts, and 3D printing.

Preceded in death by his sister, Jeannie Norcross, and his brother, Ronald L. Blazkiewicz.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Yun Ying; his sons Jack, Frank, and Jason Blazkiewicz; sister-in-law Ann; nephews John Blazkiewicz and Thomas (Jennifer) Blazkiewicz; niece Martha Ann (John) Hadley; and his in-laws in Taiwan.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 21st from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Chambers Creek Chapel of New Tacoma Cemetery, located at 9212 Chambers Creek Road West, University Place. Burial will follow the service.
