Chong, also known as "Anna" to family, was born in ChungNam-Do, Republic of South Korea to Hang-Su Kim and Yong Sun Chong, the third child of six children.

In 1966 Chong met and later married an Airman, John David Cole, Jr.  They were blessed with two sons:  Jimmy Cha-man and David Hang-Su.

In 1973 John was transferred to McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey where Chong received her naturalization papers in 1974. From McGuire they traveled to Mildenhall AFB in the United Kingdom for three years. They were then stationed at McChord AFB in Tacoma, Washington.  JD did a tour in Korea and ChongCha and the boys remained in base housing at McChord. Chong was kept busy with the boys and working at the Commissary.

Next they were stationed at Norton AFB in California. JD requested a tour in Korea and he was accompanied by Chong and David while Jimmy stayed with JD's parents in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. Upon returning to the States, they were stationed at McChord AFB where they bought a house and established roots.

ChongCha found a church home at Tacoma New Life Presbyterian Church where she and JD were active members and David was married.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters, and her grandson, Darin

She is survived by her husband JD (Butch); son, Jimmy in Hawaii (Lisa); son and daughter-in-law, David and Michelle , Auburn, Washington; sister and brother-in-law in Korea, YongCha and TongSu Cho; two grandsons, Nathan and Marcus; sister-in-law Rae LaVerne Lockhart of Las Vegas, Nevada; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
