Chester L. Torgerson died March 25, five months shy of his 100th birthday. He was born in Tacoma, WA on August 11, 1924, to Rudolph and Louise Torgerson. He attended Horace Mann, Stewart Jr. High, and Lincoln High. Chester earned his bachelor's degree from College of Puget Sound, and a master's degree from Portland State University. He also attended the University of Washington and Arizona State University.

He was a longtime mathematics teacher at Stewart Jr. High and taught high school at the Army base in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Chester was confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church and attended Immanuel Presbyterian Church. He was a lifetime member of Tacoma Elks. He loved fishing and hunting.

Chester is survived by his wife Marilyn, his daughter Kristin (Jeffery) and grandsons Mac and Kai of Gig Harbor; his Son Erik (Theresa) and granddaughter Kari and grandson Ryan of Redwood City, CA; and nine nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at a later date.
