Carolyn Irene Ernst, 85, of Tacoma WA, passed away on May 30, 2025. She was known for her kind, gentle, yet strong spirit. Her cheerful smile, and generous personality brought joy to the lives she touched.

Carolyn was born in New York City; growing up in the Bronx and later in Fairlawn, New Jersey. She married, had three children, and in the early 70's relocated to Colorado near Denver. In 1978, she moved to the state of Washington.

Carolyn loved the Pacific northwest. Although she visited many places in the US, including Alaska and Hawaii, her home was always Tacoma. She remarried in 1983, to John Ernst, who preceded her in death in 2012.

Movies, shopping, and meals at the Olive Garden restaurant were her favorite past times. A lover of animals, Carolyn was especially fond of cockapoo dogs, and had three cherished pets: Mandy, Sandy and Candy. She frequently visited family during the holidays in Orlando Florida, and she loved to cruise.

Carolyn's career included various administrative assistant roles in the hospital industry. She often shared fond memories of friends and coworkers at Tacoma Family Medicine where she retired. Her neighbors in University Place were true treasures, and a great support to her throughout the time she lived in Victoria Village.

Family left to honor her memory include: her children Mark Jones, Dawson Jones and Darlene Moorefield; her granddaughter Jessica Moorefield; and her cousin Pat Brennan.
