Brunhilde M. Johnson-Hoskins January 17, 1938 – September 16, 2026

Brunhilde M. Johnson-Hoskins was born in Buhl, Germany, on January 17, 1938, and passed away on September 16, 2026, with her daughter Hope by her side. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose deepest joy was her family. She nurtured those around her with steadiness and care.

Brunhilde carried a lifelong love of nature, happiest with her hands in the soil designing, planting, tending her garden, and watching things grow. She loved walking outdoors, often covering four or five miles with her husband Fred, and she treasured music and dancing. She and Fred explored the world side by side, traveling to places like Las Vegas, Nashville, Florida, Hawaii, cruising together, and returning often to Germany, where her roots always called her home.

She gave more than 26 years of civilian service to the United States Army, retiring proudly in July 2003 at I Corps and Fort Lewis, Washington. At Fort Lewis, she served as a bartender supervisor and assistant business manager in the Army community club system. Department of the Army commendations from 1988 through 2003 praised her professionalism, knowledge, dedication, and support for soldiers, families, and guests. Her certificates also reflect her training in bartending and her enjoyment of wine, food, and good company.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto Lang and Magdalena Lang; her seven brothers; her husbands, Lyle L. Johnson and Fred Hoskins; her son, Ralph Johnson; and her stepson, Reginald Hoskins.

Brunhilde is survived by her daughter Hope and her husband Jonas Figueroa of Florida; her daughter Regina and her husband Ed Stewart of Texas; her stepson James Johnson and his wife Terry of Eastern Washington; her stepson Fredrick Hoskins and his wife Myleen of the Philippines; her stepson Dedrick Hoskins and his wife Virginia of Oklahoma; her stepson Preston Hoskins of Oklahoma; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Her life was rooted in love, grown through small daily acts of care. May her memory continue to be a blessing.
