Berniece Annie Redding, 97 years of age and a long-time resident of Tacoma WA, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening June 14, 2026, with her daughter Kathleen Miller by her side. She had been living with her daughter for the last 5 years in University Place Washington. Berniece was born November 25, 1928, to Annie & Peter Garberg in East Stanwood, Washington.

Berniece worked many jobs in her long life beginning her career during World War II at the Keyport Torpedo Naval Station alongside her mother and sister when she was only 14. Of her long career the job she was most proud of was being a devoted parent, grandparent & great-grandparent. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter H. Redding who passed September 1987 at their home in Parkland. Berniece is survived by her 8 children Stephen Rainey of Green Cove Springs Florida & wife Bonnie, David Redding of Elma WA & wife Leanne, Peggy Peery of Seattle WA & husband Don, Kathy Miller of University Place WA & Mike,  Linda Slayton of Birney MT & husband Tim, Debbie Gursley of Green Valley AZ, Charles Redding of Roy WA, Tom Redding of Puyallup WA & wife Amy, along with 20 grandchildren & many great-grandchildren. She was also blessed with many nieces, nephews & greats.

For the 1st time in 30 years all 8 of Berniece's children were able to gather for her 97th birthday last November enjoying one last family photo with their mother.

Graveside services will be held July 2, 2026 at 11:00am at New Tacoma Cemetery, 9212 Chambers Creek Road West, University Place, WA 98467.
