Always With Us

Barbara Dolores (Brown) Jackson (95) was born on December 30, 1928, in Palo Alto, California, to Maud Marjorie Hirst and William Henry (Harry) Brown.

The youngest and only girl of four, Barbara enjoyed her family: her parents and brothers Ron, Syd, and Earl. During high school and college, Barbara worked at Claremont's Village Theater, where her boss painted ads on her car.

After marrying, Barbara had three children, Linda (David), Teresa (Patrick), and Michael (Cherie). They moved to Tacoma, finally settling in University Place.

Once in Tacoma, Barbara worked as one of the original meter maids.

Later, she used her amazing people skills in real estate ultimately with Century 21 Jackson Realty as its owner/broker for over 21 years, one of few women franchise owners.

Following her retirement from Real Estate Barbara pursued her passion for sports, cars, and traveling.

At 84, she drove Route 66 and traveled to Africa at 86. Age never slowed her down.

Her friends delighted her, but her true loves were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents as well as her brothers, Ron, Syd, and Earl.

Barbara is survived by her three children, Linda (David), Teresa (Patrick), and Michael (Cherie); her grandchildren, Jennifer Hernandez (Joaquin), Ryan Moore (Janice), Patricia Rapozo, Brandon Rapozo (Tiffany), Matthew Jackson (Danuza), and Connor Jackson; her great-grandchildren Madison, Payton and Brady (Ryan), Ariana and Joaquin (Jennifer), and Kylie and Oliver (Brandon).

We'd like to thank everyone for always being there for our Mom, especially while she was in the hospital all last summer.

Special thanks to Dr. Paulesh Shah, making it possible for her to leave the hospital and be able to enjoy a burger and fries from Red Robin again.

And to the Weatherly Inn of Tacoma and their amazing staff for giving us peace of mind knowing that she was in their care and were watching over her.

To all of you, her family and friends, thank you so much. Mom had a life well lived.
