Annette "Penny"Susan Anderson
January 25, 1945~December 7, 2025
Penny was born at Tacoma General Hospital on January 25, 1945, to Mary Helen (Tollefson) Haydon and Aaron Leonadis Haydon. She was their only child.
Penny attended Jefferson Elementary, Jason Lee, and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1963. Throughout her life, she pursued various careers. She sang with The Marshan's, Fabulous Wailers, and The Great Pretenders. She was also a homemaker, Title Representative for Commonwealth and Rainer Title companies, a Pepsi Cola sales representative, and a caregiver.
Penny had an immense love for people and animals, especially her devoted bedside cat, "Keke." She enjoyed traveling, gardening, singing, cooking and baking, attending plays and ballets, and spending time with her family and friends. She was particularly fond of her dancing role with the Tacoma City Ballet Nutcracker, where she was affectionately known as Auntie Penny.
Penny, was a cherished friend and neighbor to everyone she knew and will be deeply missed by all. She is survived by her daughter, Kim Scalera (Guy), her son, Larry Capps (Angie), and their grandchildren, Isabella, Gabriella, Aaron (Emily), Savannah (Mason), and great-grandchildren Haydon and Hazel. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and many special friends, including Eric and Cheryl McCabe.
Our family expresses our deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the Multicare Pace program for their exceptional care, Around the Sound for their compassionate transportation services, and Right at Home caregiving for their unwavering support. We are incredibly grateful to our caregivers, Michelle, Sarah, and Priscilla, for their loving and dedicated care for Mom.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to The Tacoma City Ballet in memory of Auntie Penny Anderson and The Tacoma Little Theatre in memory of Annette "Penny" Susan Anderson.
