Anna was born on Saturday, September 9th, 1933 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma Washington. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, March 10, 2025 at the age of 91. Anna was the only child of John and Hariklia (Dadidakis) Zacharias. John immigrated from Greece in the early 1900's and was a founding member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.

Anna attended Lincoln High School in Tacoma and graduated in 1952. As a teenager Anna began working at Nalley's Fine Foods Plant and later became the personal secretary of the founder, Marcus Nalley. Anna married John Karanasos on June 21, 1953, and they lived 53 happy years together before John's passing in 2006.

Anna was a devoted life-long parishioner at St. Nicholas. She served as a Sunday School teacher and was a 60+ year member of the Daughters of Penelope, as well as the St. Constantine and Helen Society, and the Philoptochos. Anna gave countless hours volunteering her time and talents to the Church. She devoted her whole life to God and her family and friends.

Anna is survived by her son Zachary (Daphne), daughter Paula, grandchildren Michael, Christina (Jonathan), Anna (Raymond), Amber, Cassaundra, and great-grandchildren Alexus, Taylor, Alexander, Gavin, Elaina, Garrett, Salvatore, Ophelia, Scarlett, and a baby girl due in July.
Anna leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. She was welcoming and friendly to all she met. She may have threatened her grandchildren with getting the "Koutala" (wooden spoon) when they misbehaved, but no one could ask for a more loving mother, grandmother, or great-grandmother. Anna passed down her love for the Orthodox faith and Greek traditions she held dear. We are grateful for the role model she was and the values she instilled so deeply in all of us. Anna was a treasure among women and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We have hope in the Resurrection and know Anna was ready to be with her beloved John once again. May their memory be eternal!
