Andrew Lurker obituary

Andrew George Lurker, 37 years old, passed away on October 7, 2025, at his apartment in Tacoma in the evening. He was born in Vallejo, California, on January 30, 1988. He is survived by his parents, Bess and George Lurker of Silverdale, Washington, and his sister, Renee Carr of Alexandria, Virginia. He grew up in Silverdale, WA, and attended elementary school, junior high school, and high school in the Central Kitsap School District.

Andrew Lurker attended the University of Washington, Seattle, where he received a bachelor's degree in English and forestry in 2007. He pursued a master's degree in education at Seattle Pacific University in 2011.

He enjoyed writing poetry and adored the music of Kelly Clarkson, as he was impressed with her music during her first season of American Idol! He attended many of her concerts. He even recently took his only niece, Zoe, to one of her concerts.

He knew since he was in the fourth grade that he wanted to be an educator. He was adored by his 500-plus students, staff, and principal at Mark Twain Elementary School.

In his memory we request donations be forwarded to Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Tacoma; the Washington Education Association Children's Fund; and the Children's Alliance.

The funeral service will be at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Tacoma, WA on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 11:00 AM.
