Alyce H. Malm, July 18th 1937- December 17th 2024, beloved wife, mother, grandmother (Grammy) and friend.
Alyce was born in Anacortes, WA. to Albertha Howard and Walter Howard on July 18, 1937.
Alyce attended schools in Anacortes, WA. and later earned her diploma at Tacoma Community College. She married the love of her life, Ronald Malm, on June 26, 1954, in Anacortes, Washington. They moved to Tacoma, WA. where Ron worked at Brown & Haley and they later bought a share in Fort Vancouver Plywood Company and moved to Vancouver, WA. with their daughter, Terri. Daughters, Sandy and Ronda, were born in Vancouver.
Alyce and Ron built up their interest in the plywood plant and built a couple of houses all of which they converted into funds to start Malm's Dry Cleaning on Bridgeport Way in 1969 and they eventually opened 3 more stores. Malm's Dry Cleaning operated for more than 50 years.
Alyce and Ron enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling. Alyce loved to golf! They had winter homes in Green Valley, Arizona and in recent years a condominium in Las Vegas. Their No. 1 rule was to "Have Fun!"
Alyce always enjoyed dear close friends and above all, was devoted to her husband of 66 years, her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She enfolded in-laws and close ones into the family for whom she was their beloved matriarch.
She was innately kind, honest, wise, loving, generous and always interested in people. She is profoundly missed and remains a beacon to us all.
She is survived by her daughters, Terri Hellyer (David), Sandra L. Wagner (Mark), Ronda I. Malm, enfolded daughters, Linda Allen and Christina Baker (Lynn); grandchildren, Shawna Franklin (Scott), Keith Gacek, Christine Kolnhofer (Istvan), Danielle Phinisey (D.J.), Marcus Wagner and Zak Roth; step grandchildren Tom Hellyer and Dory VanBockel; great grandchildren, Tyler Malm Stainbrook, Taryn Hardeman, Macenzie Gacek, Stephen Downing, Silas Gacek, Eli Franklin, Dotti Phinisey, Dewey Phinisey, Attila Kolnhoffer; and great-great grandsons, Jordan Knapp-Patterson and Kingston Hensley; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. she is also survived by her siblings, Barbara Ruby, Josephine Wooldridge, Carleton Howard and Kenneth Howard. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brother, Albert Howard.
A Celebration of her Life will be held on January 25tth at the New Tacoma Cemetery at 11:00 am.
